James Bond actor Daniel Craig was asked personally by The Queen of England to star in a James Bond short for the Summer Olympics in London. The short, titled “The Arrival,” was directed Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire). This year the James Bond franchise celebrates its 50th year, while The Queen is celebrating her 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II (called the Diamond Jubilee). The 007 skit is being broadcast by the BBC and will play during the Opening Ceremonies.
